Getting Started:
As a parent, getting support for your child with autism can feel like a neverending maze. At Totalis Autism Services, our goal is to be as simple and straightforward as possible. Our intake process is:
Submit your inquiry: Fill out our simple intake form and you’ll hear back from us within 2 business days.
Connect with our intake team: Speak directly a clinical leader to discuss your child and why you are seeking ABA therapy. No question is too big or small for our clinicians.
Confirm your child’s eligibility for ABA therapy: This typically includes confirming your health insurance coverage and confirming your child’s autism diagnosis. If your child is not currently diagnosed, we may be able to help with this through our partnership with Earlipoint Health.
Totalis submits a prior authorization request to insurance: Once that request is made, we may be able to begin within 2-3 weeks.
Our ABA Therapy Process:
At Totalis, we ensure that clinical best practices and your families’ values guide us every step of the way. ABA therapy only works when everyone in the family feels supported. To ensure that each child receives the support they need, our approach is:
Initial Assessment: Our masters-level behavior analysts spend time with your child, you, and other important caregivers to determine their specific strengths, interests, and areas for support. Through careful record review, observation and interview they assess what individualize goals and ABA strategies will be most helpful.
Treatment Plan Development: Our behavior analysts use the results of that assessment, and in-depth clinical expertise of ABA best practices to develop an individualized treatment plan. You will be a partner in developing and agreeing to this plan that will act as a road map targeting critical skills.
Ongoing Therapy and Progress Monitoring: Regular ABA therapy sessions with a trained 1:1 ABA therapist begin by building rapport and trust. As sessions continue, learning and treatment goals are woven into play, daily routines, and structured teaching opportunities. This takes place in our ABA center, your home, or familiar community settings. In addition to regular therapy sessions, your child’s behavior analyst will be present frequently to observe, adjust goals and strategies as needed, as well as provide family education and support.
Regular Reassessment and Plan Adjustment: In addition to ongoing treatment monitoring, every six months your child’s behavior analyst will complete a formal re-assessment of current skills and behaviors and formally update the treatment plan
Treatment Fading: Since every child’s treatment goals are different, the length of time they need ABA therapy differs. As your child gains skills and independence, sees success in important environments like school, and caregivers feel confident with ABA strategies, your behavior analyst will work with you to begin to fade and end direct therapy.
*Please note that this approach is our clinical best practices and we will also be guided by your specific health insurance carrier’s requirements.
